Ibizan Hound Rescue

Baxter was abandoned at our shelter gate when a young puppy. He was very nervous around people in the beginning but, after a few months in a foster home, he has now learnt to trust his two legged friends.

Baxter has good recall, walks nicely on a leash and likes to play ball. Generally very well behaved, excellent with people and children. Baxter is a dog who becomes very loyal to his family and he can show jealous tendencies towards other dogs. He needs to be rehomed as the only dog in the household or to somebody who is an experienced dog owner who is willing to work with him. He does respond well to training and this is almost certainly a problem that can be ironed out in a home environment

Baxter is house trained, neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and blood tested for sandfly disease. Able to travel in November.

Breed: Podenco Ibicenco.

Woody is a young, playful rough coated podenco. He is a very sociable dog who loves to play with humans and dogs alike. He loves his toys and really likes to let off steam charging around playing, especially with other dogs.

Woody came to us with an old break that was never treated (and indeed would have been very difficult to treat). He has an old fracture straight across the head of his humorous. He has a slight limp due to this but plays, runs and jumps freely and does not appear to have any pain.

The injury is very localised and looks as though it could have been caused deliberately by a heavy blow directly to the shoulder.

Woody is a happy dog who has the ability to make everybody smile. He is gentle with people and is good around children.

Woody is bloodtested for Mediterranean diseases, neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Able to travel to the UK in November 2008. ;

Rosie is a real little madam. She is a small dog with lots of character. Rosie was found running on a busy road amongst heavy traffic, it is a miracle that she was not hit by a car.

She loves human company, gets on very well with other dogs and really likes to "strut her stuff". Rosie loves a cuddle and she walks well on a lead. She is very playful with other dogs.

Rosie is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and blood tested for sandfly disease.

Breed: Small Podenco Andaluz.

Amigo is a small Podenco and is currently in a foster home where he happily lives alongside cats and other dogs. He is a sweet natured little dog and is very affectionate. He is very obedient and is house clean. His recall is almost 100%, that is unless there is an interesting scent which is when he needs a little persuasion!

Amigo was abandoned in the countryside, most probably becasue he did not prove to be a good hunter, and was found in an undernourished state by one of our fund raising volunteers. He has been cared for in her home since she found him and has proved to be a delightful and easy house pet.

Amigo is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and blood tested for sandfly disease.

Breed: Podenco Andaluz smooth coated.

Alex is an Ibizan Hound, young male. He was straying around a caravan site as a puppy, very thin and desperately looking for food. He is a very friendly natured dog who loves other dogs. He gets on well with males and females alike.

He is very affectionate towards humans and, whilst playful, has a gentle nature. Alex is good around children. Like most Ibizans, he is watchful by nature and a little stand offish until he knows you.

Once he has got to know you he is a licking machine!! Alex is microchipped, neutered, blood tested for Mediterranean diseases and fully vaccinated.
